CHALLENGE

College students rideshare back to their hometowns to visit their family on a weekly basis. However, the current experience of finding a ride on the Facebook rideshare page can be tedious and frustrating. Student’s have to either input a date, their hometown, or several locations to find a ride that best suit their needs.

How might we improve the usability of the current 

rideshare system for students?

SOLUTION

Introducing UC Rideshare, an app that facilitates a convenient and reliable experience for students. This app provides a messaging and reminder feature to keep track on the rideshares they are a part of. The users of this app are limited to UC students, making this app more safe to use.  

RESEARCH

 

CURRENT USER FLOW

This user flow was created to understand how students search for a ride on the Facebook rideshare page. 

 

PERSONA

From the current user flow and user interviews, I created a persona to identify any pain points. 

LOW-FI PROTOTYPE

Based on the current user flow and persona I created a low-fi prototype. 

FINAL OUTCOME

Here is the final interactive prototype of UC RIDESHARE and the features it provides. 

REFLECTION

I enjoyed the process of this project because it is relevant to students at my school. Through this project, I was able to further understand the pain points that students have when searching for a rideshare. I also learn that each aspect of the app has to be useful and relevant to the goal of finding a ride.
